CRITERION CORNER GIVEAWAY!!!

hey there. it’s been a while since i’ve randomly given stuff away, and that doesn’t jive well with my philosophy that love and / or readership should be shamelessly bought. so, in honor of Halloween, I’m giving away a blu-ray of Hal Ashby’s inspiringly morbid HAROLD AND MAUDE! also, in honor of the fact that i have an extra copy of it lying on my desk, I’m also gonna give the winner a blu-ray of Steven Soderbergh’s GRAY’S ANATOMY

TO ENTER: just “like” and / or re-blog this post. each note will count as a separate entry, so every fellow blogger can therefore submit a maximum total of 2 entries.

giveaway will be closed at 1:00 P.M. EST tomorrow (tuesday 10/23/2012). 1 winner will be randomly selected from the notes. so the odds should be okay if not super awesome, but someone’s gonna get some great stuff for nothing. and no, you do not get bonus points for pointing out that i’ve blatantly copied the text of this post from a previous giveaway post.

good luck, and thanks so, so much for reading the blog and my Criterion Corner column on movies.com!

Boats N’ Hoes from Step Brothers

"Your parents don’t want what is best for you. They want what is good for you, which isn’t always the same thing. There is a natural instinct to protect our children from risk and discomfort, and therefore to urge safe choices. Theodore Roosevelt—soldier, explorer, president—once remarked, ‘It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.’ Great quote, but I am willing to bet that Teddy’s mother wanted him to be a doctor or a lawyer."
